About Me
A graduate of Boise State University and Northwest Nazarene University I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I've spent 17 years in the mental health field as a board Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and I'm a Licensed Counselor in the state of Idaho. I am also a Level II EMDR Therapist and I specialize in treating trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
My purpose as a Counselor is to provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for my clients to address their issues, to face their fears, to increase their coping skills, and to step forward into a fulfilling life of health and well being.
My counseling approach is straight-forward, honest, compassionate and respectful. I believe my job as a Counselor is to help clients identify their inherent strengths and abilities to reach the goals they've set for themselves in counseling.
In addition to my private practice, I am a Trauma Specialist for a not-for-profit agency that provides counseling for children and adult survivors of sexual abuse, and I facilitate a monthly Survivors of Suicide (SOS) group which offers peer support to those who have lost loved ones to the tragedy of suicide.
I'm a third generation Boise native, have raised two adult daughters and am in the process of preparing for my teenage son's final year of high school.
I have two beautiful, gifted, amazing, incredible, walk-on-water grand-babies and absolutely adore being called Grandma.
My own healthy stress relief includes horseback riding, biking, skiing, reading, writing, two Border Collies, and watching the social antics of my back yard chickens.
