Wendi Adams (formerly McCutchen), LCPC, CADC
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

About Me
A graduate of Boise State University and Northwest Nazarene University I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. I've spent 27 years in the mental health field as a board Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Idaho. I am a Level II EMDR Therapist and I specialize in treating trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I am trained in Eagala and Natural Lifemanship Principles to provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
My purpose as a Counselor is to provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment for my clients to address their issues, to face their fears, to decrease their negative symptoms and behaviors, to increase their coping skills, and to step forward into a fulfilling life of health and well being.
My counseling approach is straight-forward, honest, compassionate and respectful. I believe my job as a Counselor is to help clients identify their inherent strengths and abilities to reach the goals they've set for themselves in counseling. Spiritually, I design my approach based upon individual client need and I will meet them where they are or where they identify they desire to be; with no judgement or personal agendas.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a Trauma Specialist for a not-for-profit agency that provides counseling for children and adult survivors of sexual abuse. Previously I co-facilitated a monthly Survivors of Suicide (SOS) group which continues to offer peer support to those who have lost loved ones to the tragedy of suicide.
I'm a third generation Boise native, have raised two adult daughters and recently faced the adjustment of being an empty nester as my son entered his junior year of college at Boise State University. Apparently I'm pretty good at it because my son has commented that he doesn't like that I have a life and am never home. Haha.
I have four beautiful, gifted, amazing, incredible, walk-on-water grand-babies and absolutely adore being called Grandma.
My own healthy stress relief includes horseback riding, biking, kayaking, hunting, fishing, skiing, and 4-wheeling with or without my husband. I ride and compete in rodeo drill team, and I enjoy reading, writing, archery, horse camping, my Healer pup, and watching the social antics of my back yard chickens. I have to say, I genuinely love my life!
